Pickler, who was born Kellie Dawn Pickler in June of 1986, experienced a difficult childhood. Her mother left her when she was only two in order to get out of the abuse of her partner. In 1995, she was returned to her world as Pickler and obtained the custody rights. The situation did not go for the best. Pickler aged 12 was sent back to her parents by the court. They raised her till she became an adult. Pickler due to the absence of her parents and her older siblings, became too distracted studying. Pickler admitted that she no longer had time to read and began learning how to become a housekeeper as a child. Pickler was part of her middle school and high school's cheerleading squad. North Stanly High School, where she was a graduate in 2004, was her alma mater. Pickler has also attempted her hand as a model. She was once named Miss Stanly County.
